WELLBEING PLAN

We are committed to the health and wellbeing of everyone connected to our club. As such, we have prepared a Wellbeing Plan. This plan enhances both physical fitness and mental wellbeing.

PURPOSE
We aim to promote the health, safety, and happiness of all Stanway Rovers Walking Football players. We ensure an inclusive and supportive environment that enhances both physical fitness and mental wellbeing.

WELLBEING OBJECTIVES
Physical Health: Encourage safe participation, prevent injury and promote healthy lifestyles.
Mental Health: Foster a positive, inclusive and supportive atmosphere on and off the pitch.
Social Connection: Build camaraderie, reduce isolation and strengthen the community spirit.
Player Support: Provide guidance, resources and signposting for players needing extra support.

PHYSICAL WELLBEING OBJECTIVES
Warm-up & Cool-down: Mandatory group stretching before and after each session.
Health Screening: Annual self-assessment form (blood pressure, medication and medical conditions.
Hydration & Nutrition: Encourage players to bring water and promote good nutrition.
Injury Prevention: Safe play, proper footwear, and adherence to the ‘no running’ and no tackling rule.
Fitness Support: Optional mobility or stretching sessions.

MENTAL & EMOTIONAL WELLBEING
Supportive Culture: Encourage positivity, inclusion, and respect.
Check-In System: Welfare officer or captains check in with absent players.
Awareness & Training: Offer mental health awareness sessions or guest speakers.
Buddy System: Pair new members with existing players.
Signposting Support: Provide contacts for local wellbeing services (Mind, Age UK, Shout, CALM).

SOCIAL WELLBEING & COMMUNITY
Team Socials: Quarterly gatherings to strengthen friendships.
Community Events: Charity tournaments and local fundraisers.
Celebration of Achievements: Recognize milestones and personal wins.
Volunteer Involvement: Encourage players to assist with coaching, refereeing and events.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT
Safeguarding Lead: Welfare Officer handles concern confidentially.
Code of Conduct: Respect, inclusion, and fair play for all members.
Data Protection: Secure storage of personal and medical information.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Club Welfare Officer: Oversee wellbeing plan and maintain confidentiality.
Coach/Manager: Promote wellbeing in sessions and adapt training.
Team Captains: Lead by example and monitor morale.
All Players: Support one another and report wellbeing concerns.

MONITORING & REVIEW
Annual well-being survey and player feedback.
Review of incidents and improvements.
Annual plan update.
